Cycle Saviours – Cycle Mechanic/Trainer

Job type: Full time 37.5 hrs a week (5 days a week including occasional evenings and weekends)
Salary £17,500 pa

Cycle Saviours is an exciting social enterprise, staffed by amazing teams of young people outside education and employment. We have a mission to save and renovate unwanted bikes, save the planet and get more people on their bikes. We are currently building on our success with sales and repairs by expanding our community, education and business engagement activities, encouraging more people to get into cycling.

You will be an enterprising, environmentally committed, cycling enthusiast with high level cycle mechanic skills who is keen to share those skills with young people and others in our community.

For this post you will need an enhanced DBS check.

The purpose of this post is to work with and train young people on our pre-apprenticeship programme to:           

  • Source, refurbish and sell unwanted bikes and bike spares and repair and service customer bikes
  • Develop community activities that promote access to cycling
  • Engage young trainees in the work of the enterprise

Key requirements

Ideally you will:

  • Be an enterprising cycling enthusiast with good cycle maintenance skills
  • Ideally hold a cycle maintenance qualification
  • Have an ability to, and experience of, working with young people
  • A passion for cycling and the environment
  • Have strong administrative skills
  • Qualifications at level 2 or above in English and Maths
  • Strong team work skills and an ability to work constructively with others
  • A commitment to the completion of work and to the achievement of targets
  • Hold a current driving license and be able to drive a small van

Early Years Practitioner – Childcare pathways

Job type: Full time 37.5 hrs a week (Possible job share)
Salary £17,500 pa pro rata where part-time

The Foundation Childcare Pathways enterprise is responsible for the development and delivery of:

  • Childcare: Providing a range of childcare activities that encourage children’s development and address their needs, connecting these where possible to our sustainability agenda. Our under-fives provision includes crèches, Forest School, stay-and-play sessions, holiday clubs and other events for school age children.
  • Training: Providing diverse childcare and parenting training for trainees and other clients.

For this post you will need an enhanced DBS check.

This purpose of this post is to provide:

  • To run day nurseries, crèches, parent and tots groups, forest school activities and school age holiday schemes
  • To work with and train young people to develop the range of skills needed to work in Early Years setting and holiday clubs.

Key requirements:

  • a childcare qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • a passion for working with children, parents and families
  • ability to, and experience of running crèches for children and establishing strong partnerships with parents
  • experience of working with school age children
  • an enthusiasm for supporting children to engage with and learn from the natural world
  • Experience of Forest School
  • experience of working with, supporting and training young people to achieve, particularly those who have been disengaged or who are disadvantaged, and a belief in their value and their potential
  • Knowledge and ability to implement of safeguarding procedures in an Early Years setting
  • Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and requirements set out by Ofsted relevant to Early Years provision

Sew and Grow – Team Leader/craftivist

Job type: 30 hrs a week
Salary £20,000-£20,600 pa pro rata (£16,000-£16,480)

Sew and Grow, our textile based social enterprise, works with young people to design, make and sell planet and people friendly products. We do this by:

  • Designing, making and selling reusable menstrual pads, beeswax wraps and other planet and people friendly products
  • Producing and selling kits that encourage others to be creative with natural dyes
  • Running art and craft based community activities to promote community, creativity and sustainability

You will be an enterprising, environmentally committed craftivist with sewing and natural dying skills who enjoys working with young people and others in our community.

For this post you will need an enhanced DBS check.

This purpose of this post is to provide:

  • Lead and develop the Sew and Grow enterprise, its trainee and staff team
  • Ensure high quality product design and making
  • Engage trainees in the running and development of the social enterprise
  • Raise awareness of the issues our products seek to address
  • Promote, market and sell products and services

Key requirements:

Ideally you will have:

  • Ability to lead a team, plan work, set targets and motivate staff and trainees
  • Experience of working with textiles, including natural dying and sewing
  • Experience of running or being part of a small business
  • Experience of marketing and promotion including social media
  • An ability to, and experience of, working with young people       
  • Qualifications at level 2 or above in English and maths                                
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability, re-use and up-cycling
  • A commitment to the completion of work and the achievement of stretching targets

Salary £17,500 pro rata (£7,000-£10,500)

  • A commitment to the completion of work and the achievement of stretching targets
