Early Years Practitioner – Childcare pathways

Job type: Full time 37.5 hrs a week (Possible job share)
Salary £17,500 pa pro rata where part-time

The Christian Foundation’s Childcare Pathways enterprise is responsible for the development and delivery of:

  • Childcare: Providing a range of childcare activities that encourage children’s development and address their needs, connecting these where possible to our sustainability agenda. Our under-fives provision includes crèches, Forest School, stay-and-play sessions, holiday clubs and other events for school age children.
  • Training: Providing diverse childcare and parenting training for trainees and other clients.

For this post you will need an enhanced DBS check.

This purpose of this post is to:

  • Run day nurseries, crèches, parent and tots groups, forest school activities and school age holiday schemes
  • Work with and train young people to develop the range of skills needed to work in Early Years setting and holiday clubs.

Key requirements:

  • a childcare qualification at NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • a passion for working with children, parents and families
  • ability to, and experience of running crèches for children and establishing strong partnerships with parents
  • experience of working with school age children
  • an enthusiasm for supporting children to engage with and learn from the natural world
  • experience of Forest School
  • experience of working with, supporting and training young people to achieve, particularly those who have been disengaged or who are disadvantaged, and a belief in their value and their potential
  • knowledge and ability to implement of safeguarding procedures in an Early Years setting
  • knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and requirements set out by Ofsted relevant to Early Years provision

Think Food – Café Supervisor

Job type: Full time 37.5 hrs a week (8.00 am-4.00 pm)
Salary £17,500 pa

Think Food is a small café/eating place with a big vision. We know that what and how we eat can change the world and we want our food to help change things for the better. We produce great tasting, reasonably priced vegetarian and vegan food, using as much locally sourced, fresh, seasonal and fairly traded produce as possible. All this is done with the support of young people looking to develop their employability skills.

You will be an enthusiastic worker, committed to healthy eating and excellent customer service who is keen to share those skills with young people on our pre-apprenticeship training scheme.

For this post you will need an enhanced DBS check.

This purpose of this post is to:

  • Supervise the café front of house. Welcome and take orders from customers. Prepare and serve snacks and beverages, keep tables cleared and cleaned, ensuring rigorous food hygiene and allergy processes
  • Engage and support trainees on our pre-apprenticeship programme to run the café and learn the skills essential for employment

Key requirements:

Ideally you will have:

  • Experience of working in a café
  • Experience of snack and beverage preparation including use of espresso coffee machine
  • A commitment to healthy eating and environmental sustainability
  • Enthusiastic to support young people prepare for the work place
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Food hygiene and qualification
  • Catering qualification
  • Strong team work skills
  • An ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Good maths and English skills
